Half Windsor - Old Main
Well, here’s the last one. I wrote this last year in November. I had been hanging out with this girl for a long time and we always used to take walks around the Old Main section of NAU.
I thought she liked me. I was almost positive. I told her I liked her, and she told me she didn’t think it would work out.
So I wrote this song.
This is my favorite, but I did not like that the harmonica was playing while you were singing. The song has an intimate, solitary feel to it. I picture a balladeer outside of time, serenading his memories of this girl. But then when the harmonica comes in while he sings, it makes me picture the balladeer’s creepy friend stalking the girl with him. There is no way he is playing the harmonica while he is singing so it immediately forces a 3rd person into the scenario.
My interpretation of the last lyric was that he had gotten over it. He climbed higher than the relationship had gone and could no longer see it.
